IMPORTANT NOTICE

Please be informed that from March 14, 2016 the Consular Section of the Embassy starts processing only Electronic Visa Application Forms (EVAF), filled in by applicants in Russian or English languages and printed through specialized webpage of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation at https://visa.kdmid.ru.

Before March 14, 2016 the current procedures of application are also permitted along with the EVAF processing.

Visa Services

The Consular Section issues visas to persons intending to travel to or through the territory of the Russian Federation. There are different types of visas depending on the nature of the journey. Below are the types of visas that may be issued to persons traveling to or through Russia:        
 

Types of Visas

The Russian Student Visa

In order to have a student visa issued, the following documents are required:

  • Student invitation issued by the Federal Immigration Authority of the Russian Federation indicating student purpose of visit and inviting organisation (copies sent through e-mail or fax are not accepted) or electronic invitation issued by the same Authority.
  • Passport with at least two empty pages and validity exceeding six months from the visa expiry date.
  • One passport size (35x45mm) colour photograph.
  • Filled in visa application form at https://visa.kdmid.ru.
  • Residence permit (over 90 days) for non-Ugandan and non South Sudanese nationals.
  • HIV/AIDS negative certificate
  • The expiration date of the passport must exceed the first day the visa opens for at lease 1,5 years.

Processing Fee:

The Russian Embassy in Kampala demands US$ 80.00 for students and it can be processed within 20 working days. Express visa costs US$ 150.00 and can be processed within 3 working days.

Note that under Field 1, (see visa image above) the word "однократное" appears. This means that you may use the visa to enter Russia only once. If you leave Russia, the visa will be invalid for reentry even if the dates on the visa indicate validity. Once the visa is reissued after you arrive at your university the word "однократное" will be replaced by "многократное," or "multiple entry." With this reissued visa, you may enter and leave Russia as many times as you need within the period of validitiy indicated on the visa.

Citizens of Shengen Agreement States should submit medical coverage certificates valid for Russia.

Russian Business Visa

The following documents are required for issuance of a Russian Business Visa

  • Business invitation issued by the Federal Migration Authority of the Russian Federation indicating business purpose of visit and inviting organization (copies sent by e-mail of fax are not accepted) OR electronic invitation issued by the same Authority.
  • Passport with at least two empty pages and validity exceeding six months from the visa expiry date.
  • One passport size (35x45mm) colour photograph.
  • Filled in visa application form at https://visa.kdmid.ru.
  • Residence permit (over 90 days) for non-Ugandan and non South Sudanese nationals.
  • HIV/AIDS negative certificate

The Russian Embassy in Kampala demands US$ 80.00 for single visa and it can be processed within 20 working days. Single Express Visa costs US$ 150.00 and can be processed within 3 working days.

Citizens of Shengen Agreement States should submit medical coverage certificates valid for Russia.

Russian Tourist Visa

The following documents are required for issuance of a Russian Tourist Visa

  • Original Toursit voucher and conformation of acceptance of a foreign tourist (copies sent by e-mail of fax are not accepted)
  • Passport with at least two empty pages and validity exceeding six months from the visa expiry date.
  • One passport size (35x45mm) colour photograph.
  • A round-trip ticket with dates of entry and departure within the period indicated in the invitation.
  • Filled in visa application form at https://visa.kdmid.ru.
  • Residence permit (over 90 days) for non-Ugandan and non South Sudanese nationals.

Humanitarian Visa

The following documents  are required for issuance of a Humanitarian Visa

  • Invitation issued by the Federal Migration Authority of the Russian Federation indicating humanitarian purpose of visit and inviting organization (copies sent by e-mail of fax are not accepted) OR electronic invitation issued by the same Authority.
  • Passport with at least two empty pages and validity exceeding six months from the visa expiry date.
  • One passport size (35x45mm) colour photograph.
  • Filled in visa application form at https://visa.kdmid.ru.
  • Residence permit (over 90 days) for non-Ugandan and non South Sudanese nationals.
  • HIV/AIDS negative certificate

Russian Private Visa

The following documents are required for issuance of a Russian Private Visa

Russian Transit Visa

The following documents are required for issuance of a Russian Transit Visa

  • Visa of the destination country
  • Passport with at least two empty pages and validity exceeding six months from the visa expiry date.
  • One passport size (35x45mm) colour photograph.
  • Fully paid ticket with confirmed dates of arrival to and departure from the Russian Federation
  • Filled in visa application form at https://visa.kdmid.ru.
  • Residence permit (over 90 days) for non-Ugandan and non South Sudanese nationals.

Citizens of Shengen Agreement States should submit medical coverage certificates valid for Russia.

Russian Working Visa

The following documents are required for issuance of a Russian Working Visa

  • Invitation issued by the Federal Migration Authority of the Russian Federation indicating working purpose of visit and inviting organization (copies sent by e-mail of fax are not accepted) OR electronic invitation issued by the same Authority.
  • Passport with at least two empty pages and validity exceeding 18 months from the date of entry of the visa.
  • One passport size (35x45mm) colour photograph.
  • Filled in visa application form at https://visa.kdmid.ru.
  • Residence permit (over 90 days) for non-Ugandan and non South Sudanese nationals.
  • HIV/AIDS negative certificate
  • The expiration date of the passport must exceed the first day the visa opens for at lease 1,5 years.
