In 2018 Ms. Asasira Naome Loretta from Uganda received a scholarship to study in Russia. Read her story and get an insight into why she is so happy about her experience of living in Russia!
My name is Asasira Naome Loretta. This is my 6th year in Russia and I’m currently doing my master’s in civil and structural engineering at People’s Friendship University of Russia. I did my bachelor’s degree in Belgorod State Technological University in Belgorod city, Russia.
I thank the Russian Embassy in Uganda for giving me an opportunity to study on scholarship. I’m so grateful because it has opened so many doors of excellency for me in the field of engineering because both the universities I have been to have top notch academic facilities such as research labs and libraries. Studying in Moscow has been a great experience for me because it’s so much fun at a low cost for students from endless activities like taking walks in the parks, going for group excursions, visiting local exhibitions but all this is better done in summer. Winter for me is more school than having fun because it can get really cold up –30 degrees Celsius depending on your location but that shouldn’t scare anybody because you can still have indoor fun. Transport around the city is fast and not costly because of the metro.
Life in Russia has so far been good for me, I made so many friends and acquaintances from different nationalities including Russians. Learning Russian language was not easy at first but now I enjoy holding most of my conversations in Russian that I no longer have to make signs for people to understand me. I argue fellow students who would like to study in Russia to apply cause it’s a good experience, the exposure is to live for. Once again, thanks so much Russia for giving me this opportunity. Спасибо!
